As we continue to celebrate our frontline heroes not forgetting how lucky we are to be living in New Zealand while the rest of the world still copes with these challenging times.
Meet our next hero – Francisco Goycolea is one of our leading head chefs in the Wellington region. He was working on the frontline at one of our education sites helping feed students who lived in boarding. The manager from this site calls Francisco as a man with a “Never say No” attitude. He was a delight at site and the team did not want him returning to his original site. He introduced best practices to the site, influenced the team positively and helped immensely in the operations at his deputed site. A great Chef Francisco truly lives & breathes our Compass values and spreads it through wherever he goes.
Francisco says, “The last few months have been tough for me and many others, with the uncertainty of what is going to happen next and changing work environments. I feel very lucky that I still had the ability to work throughout the lockdown period. I found this time to be very rewarding for me as I worked across a few different sites where I was able to engage with different people from all walks of life.
My first assignment was at a rest home which allowed me to engage & learn more in relation to the elderly and work along the staff there. My next assignment was at an education site where my work experience involved working with another great team implementing different work strategies and approaches.
My experience over the last few months has been rewarding and challenging but I have loved every minute of it.”
