Collaborative partnership boosts gluten-free capability
A NEW partnership between Compass Group New Zealand (Compass) and Nestlé Professional presents the opportunity to provide a wider range of foods that meet the needs of people on a gluten-free diet.
“Our dietitians work closely with our clients to create nutritional, gluten-free healthy menus,” says Compass Retail and Supply Chain’s Solutions Director, Jane Fitzpatrick.
“This exciting partnership will enable us to add to this important part of our service, as it provides us with the opportunity to work ‘with the source’. This ensures that any product we use is of the highest quality and meets important gluten-free criteria.
“Nestlé’ Professional’s broader commitment to health and wellbeing also complements our approach to sourcing high-quality, nutritional, and tasty products and produce.”
With increased awareness around gluten intolerance and allergens and a firm commitment to food safety, Compass uses many gluten free products at its national sites. The agreement with Nestlé Professional will enable the company to use the manufacturer’s gluten-free products, created at its Auckland facility.
“We are seeing more requests for gluten-free products, that are ‘safe’ but flavoursome. We are confident these locally manufactured products will provide nutritious, tasty food alternatives for those with allergies,” says Jane, adding that Nestlé Professional has converted more than 50% of its culinary range to gluten-free to meet growing demand.
“The partnership also fits very well with Compass’s commitment to supporting locally-based businesses to grow.”
Nestlé Professional NZ Country Manager, Eleni Gonzalez, adds, “It’s a privilege to be working with such a forward-thinking, professional organisation like Compass.
“Compass’s expertise and insight into its clients’ needs across different sectors will enable us to draw upon key learnings and requirements, allowing Nestlé to develop quality products and systems specifically designed to meet their customers’ needs.”
